Clyde boss "very raw" after Broomhill underdogs have their day in SPFL Trust Trophy shock

Danny Lennon admits he is hurting after watching his side suffer a shock exit from the SPFL Trust Trophy at the hands of Lowland League Broomhill.

The Bully Wee were sent crashing last night after Ross Alexander's first half striker knocked the League One side out of the competition in the first round.

It leaves Clyde without a win in their last six games as they head into Saturday's league clash at home to Alloa and Lennon says he takes full responsibility for the painful defeat.

He told the club website: "We are very raw. Words can't describe how I feel.

"That's what's so great about this game, the underdog can have its day.

"They are hard enough these games without giving them a start and something to hold on to and that's something that I've got to give them credit for.

"They held onto it very well, they defended for their lives, they threw bodies on the line.

"As much as we had a lot of possession, from an attacking point of view we didn't ask enough questions of their goalkeeper.

"The first one I saw was an Ally Love strike late on.

"I've got to take full responsibility. It's just not clicking at this moment in time."

Lennon, whose side mounted a heroic comeback in their last league outing to snatch a late draw 2-2 with Montrose on Saturday, added: "It's bitterly disappointing and I feel for the supporters.

"It's a result that shouldn't happen, but this beautiful game never ceases to amaze me."
