Clyde boss Danny Lennon praises side as they grab 'absolutely valuable' win

Clyde boss Danny Lennon says his side's mentality was spot-on as they heaped more misery on League One basement battlers Forfar with a 3-0 win at Broadwood last night.

A David Goodwillie double had the Bully Wee 2-0 up before the interval, with Craig Howie making sure of the points six minutes into the second half.

That put Clyde six points clear of their visitors in eight place, and a point above Dumbarton in ninth, who beat East Fife 2-1.

Lennon was pleased with the overall defensive performance, but said they defended well at 2-0 up, so they didn't give anything away.

And he wants them to take that into Saturday's game at Falkirk.

Lennon told the Clyde website: "We're very much a work in progress but it's an absolutely valuable three points for us, and it gets another one out of the way, so we move on to the next one.

"I thought we got off to a bit of a slow start, and Forfar got a few corner kicks. We knew they had a bit of a presence from that, but I thought we defended them very well - but you can't keep giving cheap ones away like that or something's going to give over a matter of time.

"We got an absolutely brilliant individual bit of play by David (Goodwillie) and it takes you 1-0 up, and then Ewan [Otoo, on loan from Celtic] was fantastic, hit the bye-line and we scored another perfectly good goal.

"There's more to come from him [Ewan], in terms of his drive to get forward into key areas, and he did that.

"I thought, coming in at 2-0, we spoke about the problems that Forfar could cause if we didn't handle the situation right, the mentality had to be good in the group, and I thought it was absolutely thorough throughout.

"We knew the next goal in the game was a very crucial one, to make sure that it was ours, and it was a terrific strike once again, so a very pleasing night's work.

"A clean sheet is absolutely fantastic, I thought other than what Mitch had to deal with in the first half when I think he had one at his near post, I think as a whole from him right up to David Goodwillie and wee LJ [Lewis Jamieson] we're defending very well as a team at this moment in time."
