Clyde boss Danny Lennon: Our fate is in our own hands

Danny Lennon says Clyde's League One fate is in their own hands tomorrow night... and he wouldn't have it any other way.

The Bully Wee beat rivals Dumbarton 2-0 on Saturday, but the Sons then beat Peterhead 3-2 in their final game on Tuesday to land two points above Clyde in the play-off place.

Lennon's side host East Fife in the re-arranged fixture from their Covid-hit game last week, knowing that anything less than a win will send them into a showdown clash with Stranraer.

Lennon said: "We spoke from Saturday there that we couldn't rely on other clubs to do it for us, we had to go and earn it ourselves, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

"We prepared for Saturday against Dumbarton and all credit to them, they went and did what they had to go and do, and we have to repeat that tomorrow.

"I said last weekend that it's like something out of Game of Thrones - I've not even seen Game of Thrones, I don't know how I came out with that, but there have been more twists than that.

"The importance is that we have to deal with the chance that we've got, and go and create the conditions and hopefully they will have a positive impact."

Lennon added: "We have key players missing, going into the fixture, but that's what the depth of the squad was for, and all I'm looking for the players to do is to bring the same ingredients, the same hunger, desire and commitment which they brought on Saturday, and if they do that we'll give ourselves a real fighting chance.

"They know what they need to do, and it would be nice if we could actually put it to bed tomorrow.

"It's why we are where we are, we've got to be more consistent.

"There have been highs and lows, but at this stage of the season it doesn't matter where we are, how we got there, what the injuries are, it doesn't matter about suspensions or anything to go with that or the form.

"Whoever wants to go out there and earn the right for those three points, the one with the biggest appetite, will give themselves the better opportunity to win the game."
