Clyde boss Danny Lennon bemoans lack of training after Thistle defeat

Danny Lennon revealed that Clyde are unable to train during their gruelling schedule after defeat to Partick Thistle.

Clyde have played almost every Tuesday and Thursday which means they simply can’t work on the training ground.

“It’s very challenging,” Lennon said. “It’s been narrow defeats recently but you can see this group of players are fighting for absolutely everything.

“Our boys are honest lads and you don’t get a minute to work on these things. You get a debrief after the game and you are on to the next one.

“We will dust ourselves down, see what the walking wounded brings and we will address Thursday evening.”

The 52 year-old manager made eight changes to his line-up from the weekend defeat against Falkirk.

Clyde face an important game against relegation rivals Dumbarton on Thursday night but Lennon insisted his rotation was necessary amid a congested schedule.

He said: “The key thing here wasn’t Thursday night. That becomes the focus now but tonight was very important to us.

“With the demands that have been put on the group, the whole of Scottish football, certainly the lower leagues are going through something they’ve never experienced before.

“You’ve got to try and embrace the experience of it because we’ll never experience it again.

Clyde equipped themselves well in the first half and defended resolutely to nullify the attacking threat of their full-time opponents.

Lennon made a couple of changes at the break to address some of his concerns but he was disappointed with the goals his side conceded.

He said: "I thought we had a good shape about us throughout the game particularly up until the first goal.

“We made a little tactical tweak at half time because we felt there were too many crosses coming down the right-hand side and sod’s law, the goal comes down the left hand side.

“It was too easy and we need to deal with that because we had four defenders in there compared to their two attackers - we’ve got to do better than that.

“The second one, we twisted and found boys forward. We were more in their territory at that stage of the game but to lose it through a throw-in is a basic thing that is costing us at this moment of time.

“I thought we handled them well. It was one bit of brilliance from Tiffoney and we highlighted before the game that we needed to double up on him quickly.

“At that moment of time, we failed to do so and he put a cross come shot but we should deal with it better."
