Clyde boss Danny Lennon bemoans cheap fouls after damaging Dumbarton defeat

Danny Lennon was frustrated by the amount of free-kicks his side conceded in the disappointing 1-0 defeat to relegation rivals Dumbarton.

Clyde dropped into the relegation play-off place as the Sons leapfrogged them in the League One table with just five games remaining this season.

After their Scottish Cup tie against St Johnstone tomorrow, the Bully Wee face bottom side Forfar in a massive game next Tuesday but Lennon was left annoyed with last night's defeat.

He told the Clyde website : "I'm very disappointed. It wasn't a nice evening and I didn't think there was a great deal, like in my time here, between the two sides.

"We know the way that Dumbarton like to play and they're certainly good. They like to get the ball in from wide areas and use that presence - they've got some big guys there.

"They certainty play that and it's worked well for them. I thought we caused problems ourselves by giving away too many cheap fouls in areas that we know that they strive on.

"At the end of the day, you've got to deal with that but that's what they are looking for and they worked it well.

"They've got Ross Forbes, who has an absolute fantastic delivery and they've got big guys like ]Ryan] McGeever, [Morgyn] Neill along with [Robert] Jones.

"They cause a problem and when you give any player that time and space on the ball, I'm disappointed that [Nat] Wedderburn gets a free header at that point of the game - on the stroke of half-time.

"Once again, there were far too many needless free-kicks given away."
