New Clyde boss Jim Duffy managed to stop the rot of 11 straight defeats by holding League One leaders Dunfermline to a 2-2 draw at East End Park.
And the 63 -year-old, who took the reins last week after Danny Lennon’s sacking to kick-off a second spell at the club, insisted he wasn’t overly disappointed to see his side surrender a two goal lead.
A Jordan Allan double in the first half had the Bully Wee in dreamland, but two Kyle Benedictus penalties after the break – the second of which came in the 88th minute – forced the Bully Wee to settle for a point in Fife.
The result kept Clyde ninth in the table and just a point ahead of bottom side Peterhead.
Duffy said: “I’m not overly disappointed because we were playing Dunfermline, top of the league, away from home so to get a point, you can’t be too disappointed.
“Yeah I understand we were 2-0 up, but we had to work very hard for those goals and it was always going to be a bit of an onslaught in the second half.
“Dunfermline have a terrific squad and we knew we had to battle away, but we nearly nicked it at the end.
“From my point of view, all you can ask is for the players to be the best they can be, give you absolutely everything, and I think that was the case. Everyone could see that today.
“It gives us a little bit of belief that we can add more points when we get the opportunity.”
Duffy’s side now host second place Falkirk on Saturday at New Douglas Park and reckons they can take confidence from their showing against the Pars.
He added: “We will get back to work for a very similar game in terms of quality this weekend against Falkirk.
“That will be extremely tough, but it is good for me to see the quality of some of our players and it gives me optimism that we can compete in this league.”
