Clumsy driver ploughs into Prestwick bridge

A clumsy driver has been fined after he ploughed into a bridge in Prestwick.

The workman was driving down Grangemuir Road this morning (Thursday) when he misjudged the 7' - 6" tunnel.

Police arrived and helped move the vehicle before issuing the driver with a fixed penalty.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report that a van had collided with a bridge on Grangemuir Road around 10.25am on Thursday, 10 September, 2020.

"Officers attended and the vehicle was moved. The driver was issued with a fixed penalty notice."

The incident happened just hours after a double-decker school bus hit a railway bridge in England at around 8.10am this morning.

Five children were hospitalised after the school bus crashed into a railway bridge, ripping the vehicle's roof off and injuring 15.
