'Clubs will be furious' - Celeb Bristol City fan reflects on Arsenal decision over ex Leeds United star

Celebrity fan Mark Watson has reflected on Bristol City's transfer window so far.

The Robins are yet to bring anyone in, having missed out on Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal due to the Gunners opting to keep the striker after recalling him from Leeds United.

Appearing on talkSPORT, Watson, who was jokingly mocked for appearing on Bristol Live's top celebrity Robins fans, said it was a blow to miss out on the striker, and he hoped that the Gunners would make use of him.

He said: "We thought we had Nketiah from Arsenal, largely because they shared a picture of him saying he'd gone, but that turned out to be some unhelpful red herring.

"They'd better use him because that was the rational for not sending him out on loan.

"You can understand why Arteta might, but if they just keep him and now sit him on the bench, every single Championship club will be furious."

The comedian also gave his thoughts on interest surrounding Robins star Josh Brownhill,

Watson said: "He's our midfield lynchpin and captain, there's rumours flying about that he might go or that the club might be forced to sell him.

"Most of our talent leaves in the summer normally, we lost Adam Webster to Brighton in the summer and previously Joe Bryan and Bobby Reid.

"So normally I don't brace myself too much in January.

"The thing about January is it's normally impossible to get any transfer deals done, so I normally feel fairly confident that they won't get the old faxes done in time.

"There's always a huge debate at this time of year about whether you should go for broke and spend big in January."

He added: "I think I've heard Lee Johnson talking about this, it's just not that easy - fans always want to see three or four huge signings but he likened it to being on the property chain, about nine things have got to aline.

"The ambition is there at the club, also the ambition to hold on to players, it sometimes feels like in the transfer window mysterious forces just move everything.

"I don't think Brownhill would want to leave now because you're right, he is the captain and we're on the verge of the top six.

"In the summer you can understand why they may be tempted."

Whilst it has been quiet at Ashton Gate so far, Watson is not ruling out a last-minute flurry of deals.

He said: "It's nuts, so little happens every transfer window, then there's that one half-hour period where everything goes mad.

"So maybe we'll see some ups and downs.

"There's a feeling at Ashton Gate that we're only a couple of top players away from pushing over the line.

"As always it's a question of how you get those.

"We had Benik Afobe, he was going to be one of those, but then he got injured, not a lot you can do about those.

"I think they're working on it."
