Depth Charge, Glasgow

When Jeff Mills and Robert Hood left shadowy Detroit techno collective Underground Resistance for DJ booths in New York and beyond in the early 1990s, co-founder Mike Banks took the opposite path and retired from playing live. Weary of customs officers taking apart his 303 and 909 every time he crossed a border, he focused instead on recording his own material and running the prolific UR label. His guest appearances alongside the group’s revolving cast of members have become more frequent since the mid-2000s, though, and here he plays as part of a newly formed live project alongside Mark Flash. Joining the Resistance in 2008, Flash’s debut EP for the label earned him an occasional place alongside Banks in UR’s live band Timeline, as well as in one of its spinoffs, Los Hermanos, a funk and soul project that treads swirling Latin rhythms across steadfast Detroit techno. Support comes from John Gallacher and Gavrom.

50 Weapons, Manchester

Originally intended only for a limited slate of releases, Modeselektor’s ultimately sprawling techno imprint finally closes its doors, but not before a fond farewell from The Warehouse Project. The Berlin duo will be on the decks themselves, as well as playing live as part of Siriusmodeselektor, the colourful and festival-wobbling collaboration between the pair and cult electro producer Siriusmo. And while anything Modeselekted (if you will) arrives attached with a natural level of fun, the more unforgiving sounds of their home city look to be supplied in equal measure, with Berghain regulars Rødhåd, Shed and Truncate all vowing to knock some heads clean off. Those looking to be appeased with more melodic tendencies should note the inclusion of technology-tinkering crowd favourite James Zabiela, the lighter Doc Daneeka and, guesting from Warp for the evening, Clark and his Phosphor live show. Whatever the tempo, come suitably prepared for what’s sure to be a far from quiet send-off.

Kaos 12th Anniversary, London

Taking her name from Marcel Duchamp’s female alter ego Rrose Selavy (pronounced “eros, c’est la vie” – desire is life), Rrose is expertly queering the techno scene. The male producer emerged with the moniker in 2011, and, bewigged and lipsticked, has since put out a series of ultra-austere bangers, where recognisable motifs are stripped of their features until they’re pure rhythm. She plays a two-hour DJ set here. In support are the similarly gender-querying pair of Oliver Ho and Danny Passarella, premiering their collaborative release MULTI, an often-beatless 12-inch full of stately ambient processions, with more propulsive stuff from Ho playing live in his Broken English Club guise.

Innervisions Day Party, London

The day party was once the preserve of the inveterately hardcore, who shunned sleep, car-boot sales and avocado Instagrams in favour of an amphetamine brunch. But they’re becoming a widespread and respectable clubland fixture, and Fabric is now getting in on the game. Innervisions founders Dixon and Ame, who sit in a cosy sweet spot on the Venn diagram of underground respectability and overground crowd-pleasing, are on hand here for 10 hours of blissful deep house, spry techno and cosmic disco. As Sundays go, it beats having a polite domestic in Farrow & Ball.

Boxed, Bristol

Now nearly three years old, few things in British music feel as thrilling as a Boxed night. A collective at the heart of grime’s resurgence, Boxed was born in Peckham, south London. Yet this outing out west feels like a homecoming: the instrumental tracks the crew make and play are at once emotional, raucous and iridescent, picking up on the mind-bending “purple” sound pioneered by Bristol producers Joker, Guido, Hyetal and others in the late 00s and early 2010s. Trends, Mr Mitch, Logos and Oil Gang will be on till 2am.
