Clubber who ended up 100 miles from home after boozy Uber mix-up gets free taxis for a year from nightclub

A clubber who ended up 100 miles away from home with a £400 Uber bill won't have to worry about making the same mistake twice, after the nightclub where he was partying agreed to foot his taxi bill for a year.

Joseph Fergie, 20, ordered an Uber from ATIK nightclub in Edinburgh on Friday which he thought would take him to his home in nearby Leith.

After drunkenly ordering the taxi, Joseph fell asleep in the cab and woke up at 8.30am to find the taxi had taken him to Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway.

The journey - which cost £400 - left him 100 miles from home. A hilarious video he posted just after realising his terrible mistake was published on the Daily Record on Saturday.

Now ATIK have generously decided to help Joseph out and make sure he gets home safely after enjoying their establishment.

They will pay for his taxi every time he visits ATIK for the next year and they will make sure the black cab driver knows where he lives too.

A delighted Joseph posed up with his free taxi pass outside the nightclub.

Mark Cameron, General Manager said: "He is delighted that the club after hearing of his mammoth journey have offered him a free taxi ride home to Leith every time he spends a night out at ATIK for a whole year.

"We have also offered free entry and a VIP booth this weekend for him and his friends, to tell them again of his magical mystery tour of Scotland after his previous night out at ATIK.

"He is looking forward to knowing that ATIK will make sure he gets home safely in a taxi and it's not going to cost him £400."
