Club Universidad de Chile president makes Alexis Sanchez Manchester United transfer claim

Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez wants to retire in his native Chile, the club president of Club Universidad de Chile has claimed.

Sanchez, 31, is currently on loan at Inter Milan after his transfer to United from Arsenal failed to work out. However, his time at the San Siro has only returned one goal in a season disrupted by injury.

If Inter do not try to make the move permanent in the summer, Sanchez will return to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad with a further two years left on his contract.

Now, it has been claimed by José Luis Navarrete, who is president of the company that controls Club Universidad de Chile, that Sanchez has told him that he wants to retire at his club.

“I spoke with Alexis Sanchez and he is a fan of Universidad de Chile," Navarrete told DirecTV (via SempreInter).

"He wants to retire by playing for the club. I would like to have Marcelo Díaz, Isla, Edu Vargas, Alexis Sanchez, all of them, but you have to be realistic."

Any move away from United will depend on Sanchez lowering his financial demands, and Navarrete said that would be crucial to any transfer to Universidad.

He added: “The economic scenario is not brilliant, it will depend on how much they are willing to give up to come to Universidad de Chile.”
