Racing Club president Victor Blanco says Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero is his dream signing.
Argentine side Racing are one of many clubs interested in signing Romero with the goalkeeper now third-choice at Old Trafford and surplus to requirements.
The 33-year-old has not been training with the main United group since the new season began and knows his chances of playing are over following the return of Dean Henderson from loan.
Romero was even left out of United's Champions League squad last week with veteran goalkeeper Lee Grant selected as the third-choice option for the upcoming European campaign.
MEN Sport understands Everton made an approach for Romero on the final day of the summer transfer window, but a move never materialised, while there remains an interest from Major League Soccer sides to sign him next year.
However, a move back to Argentina could also be on the cards with Racing Club expressing their interest in a transfer. Blanco has not hidden his admiration for the shot-stopper but warned Romero he’d have to take a big pay cut for that to happen.
“I dream of bringing Chiquito, but he has to come with the conviction of wanting to return, knowing that he’s not going to earn in dollars or the amount of money he earns in Europe“, Victor Blanco told Radio Colonia.
“But Racing opens the doors to everyone who wants to return. In Tita there’s a court with his name, obviously we want him to come, but it’s his decision and I understand if he wants to stay there.”
