Club owner's 'disgusting' response to teen who claims drink was spiked

A nightclub owner has been slammed for his 'disgusting' response to a teenager who claimed her drink was spiked.

Shantel Smith, 19, claimed her drink was spiked in the Rapture club in Perth, Australia, after she woke up in a toilet block covered in vomit having no idea what had happened.

She wrote a message to the bar's owner Neil Scott - who allegedly responded by asking if she was worth someone trying to spike her drink.

Mr Scott, 66, also allegedly hit back by posting CCTV footage of Miss Smith outside the club on his Facebook page -calling her a "large girl" and questioning why anyone would want to spike her.

The youngster claimed she had only consumed two or three drinks before entering the club and buying one from the bar.

Shantel said she "couldn't believe" she was being blamed for something she says happened without her knowledge.

In messages revealed by Shantel to Nine News , her complaint reads: "I wanted to get in touch to let you know that I believe my drink was actually spiked on Saturday.

"I had only had 2 or 3 drinks before I came in so I definitely wasn't drunk, bought 1 drink from the bar and was then unconscious for the next 2.5 hours, vomiting and experiencing other common symptoms o a date rape drug.

"I know there's nothing you can do about it now but I think it would definitely be a good idea to consider increasing your security as rapture is beginning to get a bad reputation as a dodgy club and I know for sure none of my friends or myself will be going there again."

Screenshots taken by Shantel allegedly show manager Mr Scott responding with doubts over her spiking claims.

He allegedly wrote: "What proof do you have of your drink being spiked?.

"Why would anyone want to spike your drink? Did you attend a hospital and have you stomach pumped for evidence?

"Is this something you and your friends experience regularly? Would you like a crowd controller to hold your drink next time you attend a nightclub?".

He allegedly goes on to write: "Are you worth someone trying to spike your drink? We think this is a beat up and we believe that no one would be stupid enough to waste their drugs on spiking anyone's drink."

The response has gone viral, and the club’s Facebook rating has plummeted to 1.1 stars out of 996 reviews.

Police have confirmed they are investigating, reports news.com.au .
