'Club legend', 'no thanks' - Arsenal fans debate Aaron Ramsey transfer after latest links

Arsenal have been told that Aaron Ramsey could be open to the idea of a return to the Emirates this January.

The Wales international spent 11 years in north London, winning three FA Cups in that time before leaving on a free transfer to Juventus in 2019.

Things haven't exactly gone to plan for him in Turin however, as injuries and strong competition for places have seen him play just 112 minutes this season.

Reports have since suggested that the Old Lady are keen to get his wages off their books, with his current deal worth as much as £400,000 per week.

Now, Arsenal have been told that their former midfielder could be interested in the idea of coming back in the upcoming transfer window by Ramsey's former teammate, Theo Walcott.

"I’ll find out, give him a call and pester him (on if he’s returning to the Premier League),’ Walcott told TalkSPORT, via the Metro.

"Do you know what, it would be lovely, it would be fantastic if he came back to the Premier League. I feel like he would want to.

"Some part of me in my head thinks that he would love to come back to Arsenal. It does. Something about that would sort of tick a box.

"It’s one of those things, he’s at Juventus and he played very well for Wales last night and it’s good to see. A lot of people have been on his back in Italy, which I haven’t seen a lot or enough of it to comment on that.

"But he’s a leader. He’s a workhorse. Still playing for his country and has all these caps."

Some Arsenal fans are open to the idea of Ramsey's return, whilst others are a little sceptical about a transfer arguably driven by nostalgia.

Arsenal will need to invest in their midfield in the upcoming transfer window as a result of Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny going to AFCON.

Given that he knows the club, perhaps Ramsey is a good option to explore - especially if they can agree to a short-term loan deal - but only time will tell.
