Kevin O’Brien’s boys breezed to a 7-17 to 0-11 win over Oughterard at Pearse Stadium.
It was a meeting of the reigning All-Ireland senior and intermediate club champions - and the gulf in class was evident.
Dylan Wall, Michael Farragher, Michael Lundy, Jason Leonard, Dylan Canney and sub Matthew Cooley also struck the net.
It was Oughterard’s first senior club game in almost 20 years and they held their own early on before caving in.
Corofin led by just three points after 28 minutes but Farragher’s goal nudged them 2-8 to 0-7 clear at half-time.
Lundy poked their third goal from close range in the 37th minute and the floodgates opened from there as Corofin added four more.
Leonard’s 52nd minute goal was the pick of the bunch as he finished off a thrilling passing move with a neat finish from close range.
In a three-team group, the win sets seven-in-a-row Galway champions Corofin up nicely.
Meanwhile, 2016 and 2017 Meath SFC champions Simonstown Gaels began their campaign with a 1-14 to 0-11 defeat of Skryne.

But they struggled against the wind and Skryne dominated the third quarter to cut the gap to two.
Mark Gardiner’s 56th minute goal settled Simonstown and Padraig McKeever added two late points to take his tally to 0-7.
With just one team advancing from each of the four groups of four, it’s building towards a Group C shoot-out between Simonstown and holders Ratoath.
