Club comes to decision over Arsenal loanee - and the Gunners will not be impressed

It appears that Takuma Asano will be heading back to Arsenal in the summer, according to German publication Kicker .

The Japanese international was sent out on loan for the season to Bundesliga side Hannover 96 but the move has not gone to plan at all.

The 24-year-old has only made 16 appearances for the club so far this campaign, scoring one goal against Karlsruhe in the German Cup back in August.

Asano's last appearance in the Bundesliga came in the 1-0 defeat against Schalke last Sunday and it very much looks like that will be his final game for Die Roten.

Hannover director Martin Kind has confirmed that if the player makes one more appearance for the club they will have to buy him on a permanent basis for £2.6million.

Asano has clearly not made an impression for the Bundesliga basement boys and they will now freeze him out for the remainder of the season.

The decision could certainly backfire as Asano could potentially provide the goals needed to keep the team in the Bundesliga despite his poor form.

Hannover are currently bottom on 14 points and are six points adrift of Stuttgart in the relegation play-off place.

Arsenal will also not be very pleased about the club's decision to not play Asano over the remaining weeks as the main reason they sent him out on loan was to get some much-needed football under his belt.

Former Spurs defender Kevin Wimmer is also in the same boat as the forward at present as Hannover would need to pay Stoke City €12m if he makes 24 appearances for the team.
