Club chairman suggests £4m striker could be transfer option for Nottingham Forest in January

Nottingham Forest were reportedly interested in signing Sint-Truiden striker Yuma Suzuki during the summer transfer window.

According to reports, the Reds had agreed on a transfer fee for the 25-year-old but the transfer fell through on deadline day.

Suzuki signed for the Belgian top-flight outfit in 2019, scoring 17 goals, while contributing to four assists in his 35 appearances for the club.

According to Belgian news outlet, Voetbal België, Sint Truiden have valued their striker at £4million.

It is understood that the Japanese will be sold in the winter or next summer.

Forest have however, another chance to secure Suzuki's services come January.

"Certain agreements have been made in the past and they will eventually come back on the table," Sint-Truiden's chairman David Meekers told Voetbal Belgie.

"We’ll have to wait and see whether (Suzuki will be sold) in the winter or the summer."

The Jupiler League in which the side compete, has suffered losses of more than £3m during the Covid crisis.

As revealed by Meekers, the Belgian outfit would be willing to cash in on the striker and January could be the perfect opportunity for the Reds to strengthen their front line.
