Club and bar operator Tokyo Industries invests ‘nearly £100k’ to open sixth Manchester venue

The operator behind Manchester venues Impossible, Factory 251 and Whisky Down is set to open its sixth venue in the city creating 60 new jobs.

Tokyo Industries, which operates 36 club, bar & music venues across the UK, is set to open BLVD Manchester on November 14.

The “high-end drinking and dining concept” is to open in former Spinningfields bar Neighbourhood, which closed after having its licence revoked in April.

Tokyo Industries submitted a licensing application to reopen the bar in September.

The operator said it has injected “nearly £100,000” to launch the all-day destination.

Aaron Mellor, Tokyo Industries CEO, said: “Having started Tokyo Industries back in 1997, it’s hard to believe we are here opening our sixth venue in Manchester.

“We’re incredibly excited to add the launch of BLVD Manchester, adding to the ever-changing landscape of this great city.

“We want to captivate our audience and offer them something exclusive and modern, yet with the comforts of a retained familiarity”

Tokyo Industries said BLVD Manchester will “combine modern day dining, superior drinks and dynamic late-night entertainment”.

It is looking to replicate the success of high-end venue Impossible when it opens BLVD, it said.

The operator, which has 280 members of staff working across its venues in Manchester, will create 60 new jobs at its latest site.

Tokyo Industries, which was established in Oldham in 1997, has expanded both in the UK and internationally.

Its overseas portfolio includes the newly-launched Hangar 8289 in Ibiza, [Dis]order in Los Angeles and Industrial Avenue in Dubai.

The company recorded a turnover of £3.4m for 2018, up from £2.7m in the previous year.
