Clothing shop 5 Pointz in Bristol city centre closes permanently after 15 years

A popular independent clothing shop in Bristol city centre has closed permanently.

5 Pointz opened on Nelson Street in 2004 and built up a reputation for selling premium footwear and clothing, offering limited edition sneaker releases and globally sourced brands.

The shop stocked a mixture of independent brands and manufacturers known across the world including Nike and Carhartt.

It is unclear if the closure is a result of coronavirus. Bristol Live has contacted the store to ask and is awaiting a response.

News of the closure was shared on the shop's Facebook page, which is followed by 23,000 people.

The statement, shared on March 29, reads: "So what you've probably heard is true. 5 Pointz is coming to a close as of early next week.

"After 15 years in business and weathering a few cycles in the sneaker/streetwear industry, we have decided it’s the right time to bring down the curtain.

"We'd like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to you, every customer who bought from us, everyone that visited our store, everyone who queued for launches over the years, and everyone we met along the way and all the brands that have helped us."

The store also hosted live DJ performances, including drum & bass legend Randall in 2017.

Earlier this week it was reported that vintage homeware store Cath Kidston is preparing to go into administration.

The chain, which has a store at Cribbs Causeway, is set to enter administration by the end of this week, putting nearly 950 jobs at risk.
