Clothes retailer Penneys to finally launch online shopping service

Penneys is planning on launching an online shopping service where goods are ordered online and picked up in store.

Primark CEO Paul Merchant revealed to a group of analysts that the mega retailer is looking into introducing a click-and-collect option to all stores, the Journal reports.

The fashion giants chief exec said although the company will trial the online shopping service, the retailer will remain focused on developing and improving their stores, describing their existing model the "cornerstone of strategic decision-making," RSVP Live reports.

He added: “Of the top-20 retailers, which hold 70% of the UK market, Primark is the only one with no online presence, yet it has achieved the largest market share gains over the last decade."

While the move will only "drive an incremental" profit for the company, the service has still been highly demanded amongst consumers for years and will be welcomed news by shoppers.

The decision means that whenever you see a fabulous piece online or posted on Penneys' Instagram you can pop over to the website, drop the piece into your basket, pay for it and then collect it in store.

This means no more scrounging around for the last of your size, or bashing your way through the busy aisles.
