Closure alert as A71 resurfacing work in Ayrshire set to run until August

A stretch of the A71 in Ayrshire will close overnight next week as resurfacing work is carried out.

The scheme from the North Ayrshire boundary to Moorfield roundabout will start on Monday, July 26 and run until Friday, August 13.

For safety and efficiency reasons, the busy route will be closed from Corsehill Mount roundabout on Monday for three nights from 6pm to 6am, reopening to traffic each morning.

Traffic will diverted through the villages of Springside and Crosshouse on the B7081.

From Thursday, July 29 at 6am, works will be carried out under contraflow until they are completed.

Emergency access will be maintained during the road closures and through the works site.

It is anticipated that the resurfacing work will be completed within the timescales stipulated.

However, Ayrshire Roads Alliance (ARA) say the work is weather dependent and any unforeseen difficulties could result in a delay.

Updates will be published on the ARA website at www.ayrshireroadsalliance.org
