Close Brothers Asset Management appoints new director to Edinburgh team

Close Brothers Asset Management (CBAM) has appointed chartered wealth manager Michael Barr as an investment director in its Edinburgh office.

Barr joins from Brooks Macdonald, where he spent seven years as an investment manager and director, having previously worked in the Channel Islands for four years at EY.

In his new role, he will aim to expand CBAM's investment management service for high net worth clients.

Barr has experience of private client and charity funds and specialist research in UK stocks and AIM BPR qualifying shares, and was deputy manager of Brooks Macdonald's AIM Portfolio Service.

Four new managing directors have joined CBAM in the Edinburgh this year and it now employs 110 people in Scotland.

Chief executive Martin Andrew said: “In these extraordinary times, Michael is an excellent addition to our Edinburgh office.

“His considerable expertise in managing both charity funds and handling private clients’ needs will be a fantastic asset as we continue to enhance our high net worth proposition in Scotland. This in turn will support our growth plans across the UK, all while maintaining our excellent service for clients.”
