Clondalkin shopping centre staff and Dublin Fire Brigade get special Communion day visit after saving 7-year-old girl's life

A beautiful seven-year-old girl made a special visit on her Communion day to say thank you to the brave staff and paramedics who saved her young life.

Brave little Carly suffered a cardiac arrest in the Mill Shopping Centre in Clondalkin last Christmas.

But thanks to the quick-thinking of security staff and an off duty lifeguard, CPR was carried out on Carly and a defibrillator helped to keep her alive before Dublin Fire Brigade paramedics arrived.

They then carried out advanced life support and took her to hospital but stressed the importance of "bystander CPR" that can be carried out before health professional arrive.

Thankfully Carly not only survived the scary ordeal but got to thank DFB and the staff in the Mill shopping centre for saving her life that day.

DFB said: "Carly, who suffered a cardiac arrest aged 7 at Christmas dropped in on her communion to meet the crew that treated her on the day.

"Security staff and an off duty lifeguard at @MillCentreD22 performed CPR while a public access defibrillator delivered shocks before the arrival of firefighter/advanced paramedics from Tallaght fire station.

"They provided advanced life support before Carly was transported to hospital. Bystander CPR really does work and can save a life."
