A south Dublin band was crowned World Pipe Band Champions over the weekend.
The St Joseph’s Pipe Band from Clondalkin won the award on Saturday in Glasgow.
This is an added achievement to their East of Ireland and Leinster titles in addition to their drumming titles in the UK and Scottish championships.
They beat 230 bands from around the world including Scotland, England, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, France, Spain, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, and Ireland.
The band, which is led by Tim Farrelly and are based on Old Nangor Road, have about 40 to 50 active players.
Band secretary Leo Bissett said: “The band play a great mix of Scottish and Irish music and have become one of the most respected bands in the pipe band world over the past few seasons.”
