Clondalkin mum-of-three tragically dies from rare illness just months after house went on fire

A fundraiser has been set up in the hope of raising thousands for the funeral of a "kind soul" mum-of-three.

Tara Peavoy sadly passed away on May 1 in St. James’s Hospital after battling a rare illness called hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) just months after her house went on fire.

The Clondalkin mother in her 40s tragically left behind three sons and many family members who loved her dearly.

Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a severe systemic inflammatory syndrome that like in Tara's tragic case can be fatal.

The GoFundMe has been created to help her family with the hefty cost of the funeral arrangements.

It was set up by her niece Emma Cullen who said: "We are trying to raise money to help Tara's 3 boys and her family pay for her funeral.

"My beautiful aunty Tara Peavoy sadly passed away peacefully at St. James’ hospital on the 1st of May after a short battle from an illness called hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH).

"Anyone who knew her will know that she had more than her fair share of bad luck, including a house fire recently which had left her with minus nothing.

"Those who knew her will describe her as a gentle, kind soul who deserves a decent send-off.

"Any donations would be greatly appreciated to help the family in this difficult time."

Gino Kenny, People Before Profit TD for the area, told Dublin Live told Dublin Live Tara was a "really nice person" who sadly "never got a break".

He said: “I knew Tara for the past number of years, it’s terrible, it’s so sad to see this happen to a really nice person.

“She just needed a break and she didn’t get it. Her house went on fire before Christmas. She wanted a new start and it just wasn’t to be, life can be cruel.

“Hopefully people rally around, a lot of people would’ve known her, her family and her mother.

“Anytime I met her on the street I always spoke to her, she was a gentle person and very devoted to her child and her family.

“As a public representative and someone that knew her, I was fond of her, she was a nice person. I would’ve always stopped and talked to her.”

You can donate to the fundraiser and help Tara's family pay for the funeral costs here.
