Clive Owen, Anna Gunn and Lia Williams to star in revival of The Night of the Iguana

Clive Owen is set to return to the West End in a revival of Tennessee Williams’ The Night of the Iguana.

He will appear alongside Lia Williams and Breaking Bad star Anna Gunn in a revival of the 1961 play at the Noel Coward Theatre.

The play, which will be directed by James Macdonald, is set in 1940 on an old hotel verandah, where a group of lost souls meet and debate before a tropical rainstorm arrives.

Owen last appeared on stage in 2015 in a Broadway production of Harold Pinter’s Old Times, but hasn’t been in the West End since 2001 when he starred in a revival of Peter Nichols’ A Day in the Death of Joe Egg alongside Victoria Hamilton.

One of his most notable stage performances was Patrick Marber’s Closer at the National Theatre in 1997. Owen was the only original cast member to go on to star in the subsequent 2004 film adaptation.

Williams was shortlisted for Best Actress at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards last year for role in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie at the Donmar Warehouse.

Gunn was twice awarded an Emmy for her role as Skyler White in Breaking Bad. Game of Thrones star Julian Glover will also appear in the production.

The Night of the Iguana will open on July 6 and run until September 28.
