Clive Durose celebrates business milestone after setting up company fresh out of college aged just 18

A Staffordshire timber manufacturer is celebrating its milestone 40th year in business.

Clive Durose started his business at the age of just 18, shortly after completing an A-Level qualification in woodworking.

He quickly became an accomplished wood-turner, making a wide range of products including stair parts, furniture components and architectural features for a variety of customers across the country.

Today Clive Durose Ltd, which is based on Newstead Industrial Estate in Trentham, boasts a 30-strong team which specialise in bespoke wood machining services, specifically the manufacture and installation of bespoke and complex handrails and crafted staircase parts.

Managing director Clive said: "I am delighted to have reached this momentous milestone.

"I have always relished a challenge over the years, overcoming technical difficulties in the pursuit of creating beautiful woodwork.

"I am also fortunate to have a great team that share my passion for craftmanship and together we have achieved some outstanding projects."

Over the last four decades, Clive Durose Ltd has transformed its manufacturing processes using modern CNC machinery together with more traditional methods to achieve 'spectacular' results.

Recently, the company – which has contributed to a host of impressive projects – was commissioned for a private residential project in Mayfair, London worth £500,000.

The team successfully designed and built a landmark staircase using state-of-the-art computer aided design (CAD) and CNC – spanning seven floors.

Clive added: "In celebrating this incredible anniversary, the team and I remain extremely passionate about our heritage whilst looking to the future with optimism with plenty of exciting new developments and projects on the horizon."
