Clisby joins Mariners' A-League exodus

Less than a week after the shock exit of coach Alen Stajcic, Central Coast have farewelled experienced defender Jack Clisby from the A-League club.

The 29-year-old, a key part of the Mariners' team that finished third this season, is heading back to hometown Perth and has signed a two-year deal with the Glory.

Joining the Mariners in 2018, Clisby played 71 league matches for the Gosford-based club and claimed the Noel Spencer Goal of the Year award in his first season.

Perth-born, this will be Clisby's second stint with the Glory after making 31 appearances between 2013 and 2015.

He has also played for Melbourne City and Western Sydney during his A-League career.

Clisby is expected to be far from the only player to depart the Mariners, who are hunting for a new coach after Stajcic quit last week.

With owner Mike Charlesworth having failed to find a buyer for the club after putting them up for sale in August, there are concerns the Mariners are set to be gutted following their promising season.

Youngster Alou Koul had already agreed a deal to join Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart at the end of the season and newly-capped Socceroo Ruon Tongyik is reportedly attracting interest.

Playmaker Danny de Silva has also been linked heavily with a move to Macarthur FC.

Elsewhere Brisbane Roar have confirmed the exit of attacking pair Dylan Wenzel-Halls and Golgol Mebrahtu.

Wenzel-Halls, who scored 14 goals in 67 appearances for the Roar, has joined Western United on a three-year deal.
