Clippers Seeking New Assets to Improve Trade Offer for 76ers’ James Harden, per Report

The chatter surrounding a potential James Harden trade to send the disgruntled star out of Philadelphia has cooled down of late. But the team he’s been linked to since the very early stages of his request, the Clippers, are making moves in the background to try to swing a deal for the 76ers guard, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Los Angeles is taking the approach of pursuing additional draft assets from other teams in order to improve the offer it can put together for Philadelphia, as Charania reported in The Athletic’s newsletter, The Bounce.

This comes on the heels of a report stating that the Sixers wanted Clippers guard Terance Mann and first-round picks, but that the fifth-year guard is considered untouchable, according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The big question is whether additional draft assets will entice the Sixers and president Daryl Morey to deal Harden. Morey seemingly has remained steadfast on the pursuit of a star or multiple draft picks, so if there are enough draft pieces offered in a trade, it could make sense for Philly to do the deal.
