March 30--Just when it looked as if the Clippers were about to finally become whole, they were struck with another injury.
The Clippers kept forward Paul Pierce back home in Los Angeles to recover from a right ankle and right knee injury he suffered during Monday night's game against the Boston Celtics at Staples Center.
Paul won't be at games in Minnesota on Wednesday night or in Oklahoma City on Thursday night.
"We don't know if this is a long thing," Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said at his team's shoot-around Wednesday morning in preparation for that night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. "I don't think it is. Hopefully he's not out for more than a week."
The Clippers had just got some good news when they announced that Blake Griffin would return to play Sunday when they host the Washington Wizards.
Griffin was medically cleared to play Sunday, but he first has to serve a team-imposed four-game suspension for punching a Clippers assistant equipment manager.
Griffin last played on Christmas, having sat out because of a broken right hand and a partially torn left quadriceps.
"We get Blake back on Sunday and you were hoping we could have our whole team for a change," Rivers said. "Now that's not going to happen."
