Clippers blow late lead and fall to Nets in final seconds, 102-100

Feb. 03--The Clippers squandered an eight-point lead in the final 70 seconds Monday night and lost to the Brooklyn Nets, 102-100, to drop to 2-2 on their eight-game "Grammy trip."

The Clippers were up 98-90 with less than 1:10 to play, then the Nets went on a 10-0 run fueled by three-pointers from Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Alan Anderson -- who was fouled and made his free throw to give the Nets a 100-98 lead with 15.3 seconds left.

Chris Paul made a layup with 8.6 seconds remaining to tie the score at 100. But then with 1.3 seconds left, Jarrett Jack made a pull-up jumper to give the Nets the win.

The Clippers entered the fourth quarter up by two points, 72-70, and built the lead to as many as 11 points before their late-game melt down.

DeAndre Jordan led the Clippers with 22 points and 20 rebounds. Paul had 20 points, eight points and eight assists. J.J. Redick played only 4 minutes 11 seconds before exiting because of back spasms. And All-Star forward Blake Griffin scored only 13 points before fouling out. His sixth foul was the one that put Anderson on the line after his go-ahead three-pointer.

Brook Lopez led the Nets with 24 points and seven rebounds. Johnson had 22 points and six assists.

The Clippers entered Monday's gave having won seven of eight games and moved into third place in the Western Conference. The loss dropped them to fifth with a record of 33-16.

The Nets are in ninth place in the East with a record of 19-28.

It was the Nets' seventh consecutive win over the Clippers on their home court. It was also a major reversal of the teams' Jan. 22 game at Staples Center, which the Clippers won, 123-84.

The Clippers have two days off before playing at Cleveland on Thursday.
