Clintons are 'a virus in the Democratic Party', says Meghan McCain

The Clintons are “a virus in the Democratic party” and should “move on,” Meghan McCain has said.

The daughter of John McCain was discussing Hillary Clinton‘s recent speech in India, where she told an audience the United States did not “deserve” Donald Trump‘s presidency.

Ms Clinton said the US President has ”quite an affinity for dictators” and Mr Trump “really likes their authoritarian posturing and behavior.” But she added she thinks it’s “more than that” with Russia and its President, Vladimir Putin.

She said: “His [Mr Trump’s] whole campaign, ‘Make America Great Again,’ was looking backwards. You know: ‘You didn’t like black people getting rights, you don’t like women getting jobs. You don’t want to see that Indian-American succeeding more than you are. Whatever your problem is, I’m going to solve it.’ So it was a symptom.”

Responding to Ms Clinton’s comments on ABC’s The View, Ms McCain said: “I have to tell you some hard truths: the Clintons are a virus in the Democratic Party. You have to move on.”

She added: “This message is losing. You just lost an important election to a reality television star.”

She later warned: “If the [Democratic] Party is the party of the heathens, we’re going to have Trump for another four years.”
