Clinton Portis has some advice for Redskins defensive coaches

Clinton Portis has a simple question — why play corners well off the line of scrimmage with less than 10 yards to go for a first down?

Portis’ critique is aimed at the Washington Redskins’ usage of Josh Norman and Quinton Dunbar over the first two weeks of the season — which has played a role in the team starting 0-2.

Over those two games, the Redskins have allowed more than 500 passing yards and six passing touchdowns, so it’s obvious something needs to change.

What Portis is talking about was especially interesting against a Cowboys team that could feign the pass and go with a running back as talented as Ezekiel Elliott.

We’ve said it already — Greg Manusky might be on the hot seat. If more of what Portis refers to here pops up on Monday night against the Bears, the seat might only get hotter.
