Clinton expected to reveal VP choice in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. _ Hillary Clinton will likely announce her running mate in Florida on Friday, the same day she is scheduled to visit Orlando and Tampa.

When asked if the choice would be revealed Friday, Clinton aide Karen Finney told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Tuesday, "I expect that's about right."

But Finney later downplayed her answer.

"To be clear, there is no announcement set yet," she tweeted, adding, "I'm not spoiling the surprise!"

Clinton is scheduled to appear in Orlando on Friday before holding a rally in Tampa on Friday night.

The Clinton campaign did not release details of her visit to Orlando. In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel in June, Clinton suggested that she would visit the city at some point to pay respects to Pulse nightclub shooting victims and first responders.

Clinton also is scheduled to appear at a rally Saturday in South Florida.

Clinton's visit is not the only appearance in Orlando by a prominent Democrat this weekend.

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who has been mentioned as a possible vice presidential choice, is scheduled to speak Saturday at the annual conference of the National Council of La Raza at the Orange County Convention Center.

Other speculated vice presidential possibilities include U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack and U.S. Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey.

Republican Donald Trump announced his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, via Twitter on Friday and in person in New York City on Saturday.
