Climate talks: will the COP19 debate in Warsaw help poor countries? – podcast

As the next round of UN climate talks gets under way in Warsaw, questions abound. What needs to happen to help poor countries cope with the challenges of climate change? How will we pay for a greener future? Which countries are funding mitigation and adaptation efforts – and where is that money going? And what are the particular challenges facing the developing world?

On the eve of the talks, the UK's Overseas Development Institute and the Guardian's Global development website hosted an event to explore these issues. The debate was recorded for this month's podcast.

Chairing the discussion was Guardian journalist Hugh Muir. He was joined by a panel of speakers comprising John Vidal, the Guardian's environment editor; Tom Mitchell, the ODI's head of climate change; Monica Araya, a climate change specialist from Costa Rica; and Amal-Lee Amin, an associate director of the E3G environmental thinktank.
