Climate protesters line Stewart Avenue with Bold Blue Line

Pictures: Supplied

ENVIRONMENT activists formed a line along Stewart Avenue outside Newcastle Interchange on Thursday morning as part of a protest about sea-level rise.

About a dozen protesters, some of whom wore blue jackets, held a big blue sheet along the roadside as morning peak-hour motorists passed by.

The location of the protest, dubbed the Bold Blue Line, marked where sea levels will rise to in Newcastle as climate change worsens, the group said.

The protest comes ahead of the release of a new Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report.

Last Friday, an estimated 10,000 people attended the School Strike 4 Climate event in Newcastle.

About 100 protests were held nationwide, and hundreds more around the world, as part of the SS4C movement.
