Climate activists have claimed responsibility for deflating the tyres of over 50 cars in the west end.
The group, calling themselves Tyred of SUVs, targetted the luxury cars parked in a 'rich neighbourhood' in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The group deflated tyres of 60 SUVs and placed satirical police fines on the cars' windscreens explaining their action. No tyres were damaged in the action.
The notices read: "ATTENTION. CLIMATE VIOLATION. Your SUV contributes to the second biggest cause of carbon emissions rise in the last decade.
"This is why we have disarmed your car by deflating one of more of its tyres. If SUV drivers were a nation, in 2018 they would have ranked as the 7th biggest emitter of Co2.
"Unnecessary luxury lifestyle choices in rich countries are part of what is driving climate breakdown. This process is already having devastating impacts on people in poor countries...and we won't be spared either."
The action specifically targeted drivers of sport utility vehicles or SUVs that the activists described as 'climate-destructive cars'.
International Energy Agency said that between 2010 and 2018 were the second-largest contributor to the increase in global carbon emissions after power, contributing more than twice as much as aviation.
The action is the latest in a series of direct actions taken by climate activists during COP26 which wraps up today.
On Monday night, dozens blockaded a dinner held by the World Business Council on Sustainable Development.
At least five activists were arrested at the action, which prompted diners to abandon the event early.
A spokesperson for Tyred of SUVs said: "If 4x4 drivers were a nation, they'd be the 7th biggest polluters on the planet (Source: International Energy Agency). If the 1% won't take responsibility for the climate destruction they wreak, we'll make them."
