Cliftonville stand firm on Levi Ives valuation as they confirm transfer request

Cliftonville have confirmed Levi Ives has submitted a transfer request, however the club has stated the player will not be permitted to leave until their valuation is met.

Larne are keen to recruit the full-back with reports suggesting the league champions have already had two bids for Ives turned down.

A third bid from the Invermen is said to be on the table and it remains to be seen if this will be enough to land the player.

In a statement posted on the club website on Sunday evening Cliftonville confirmed they had "acceded" to make Ives available to other clubs.

The statement said: "Cliftonville Football Club can confirm that Levi Ives has submitted a written transfer request.

"While the Club has acceded to make him available to other Clubs, Levi will not be permitted to leave until our valuation is met."

Ives current deal with the Reds runs until 2025 and they are determined to get the amount they value for the player, who has been an integral part of the first team since making his debut in 2015.

The 25-year-old has been an ever-present in the team but is said to want to make the switch to full-time football.

His potential departure would be a massive blow for new boss Jim Magilton, who is trying to assemble a squad as Cliftonville move to a new hybrid model.

Magilton completed the loan signing of goalkeeper David Odumosu last week, but he will be looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the start of the season, which is less than a month away.
