Cliftonville continue to consider "all options" on how to end season

Cliftonville insist they continue to consider "all options" on how to finish the season.

A majority of clubs are eager to play the remaining seven fixtures later in the year and discuss the redistribution of European prize money amongst the 12 top flight sides.

One option of satisfying UEFA’s desire for European nominees would be to rewind the Premiership table to 22 games when clubs had played each other home and away.

That would mean Cliftonville - who currently sit fourth in the table - qualifying for the Champions League but wouldn’t be declared champions, with Linfield and Glentoran in the Europa League spots.

The remaining seven league games and Irish Cup semi-finals and final would then be played later in the year when it is safe to return to football with fans.

It was claimed that 10 clubs supported the idea at last night's crisis meeting, with Linfield and Coleraine in opposition.

On Friday Cliftonville clarified their position.

The North Belfast club tweeted: "Cliftonville FC would like to clarify comments made by some media. At last night’s meeting of Premiership clubs, no support was given by us for any proposal.

"We continue to consider all options put forward by the NIFL and others in regards how to conclude this season."

Further talks are expected today, with the NI Football League due to inform Uefa of its intentions.
