Clifton Waitrose smashed up by thieves who stole cigarettes and champagne

Two men are being hunted by police after they sneaked into the back room of the Waitrose store in Clifton Triangle and stole spirits, champagne and cigarettes.

Police said the two men 'caused extensive damage' to the staff only till area in the store on Queens Road when they got in and broke their way into secure areas where the items were being stored.

The raid happened at around 7.45am last Tuesday, October 6, and police are now appealing for anyone who was going past at the time and might have had dashcam footage they recorded.

"Two men entered a staff-only till area at the Little Waitrose store and caused extensive damage before making off with spirits, champagne and cigarettes," a police spokesperson confirmed.

"The men were both described as aged 25 to 30 and wearing dark clothing, grey or black backpacks and a baseball cap or beanie hat.

"If you were in the area at the time and witnessed the incident, have dashcam footage which could help or any other information call 101 quoting reference 5220226143.

"Alternatively ring the independent charity Crimestoppers 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111. They never tell police who you are, just what you know," she added.
