Clifton Suspension Bridge closed after police attend call for man's welfare

Clifton Suspension Bridge is closed this morning following reports of a man falling from the bridge. Police were called at just before 7am today (Saturday, December 10) after receiving a call regarding the welfare of an individual.

Officers remain on scene. Fire crews and the coastguard are also in attendance.

Roads around the suspension bridge are unaffected. A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called at around 6.50am today (Saturday 10 December) after witnesses reported seeing a man fall from Clifton Suspension Bridge.

“Officers are at the scene, supported by fire, coastguard and the drone unit. The bridge has been closed while officers are at the scene.”

Emergency services have also been seen along the river elsewhere in Bristol.
