Clifton fire which damaged flats was started deliberately

A fire in Clifton is believed to have been started deliberately.

Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for information after a fire outside flats in Glapton Lane.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service was called at around 2.35am today (Tuesday 23 April).

All residents were evacuated from the premises safely, however the property suffered significant smoke and fire damage.

Police said the fire is believed to have been started among  discarded furniture that had been left outside the flats.

Following an investigation by Notts fire service it is believed to have been started deliberately.

A police spokesman said: "Police are investigating and urge anyone who witnessed anything suspicious to call 101, quoting incident number 47 of 23 April 2019, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
