Clicker-bait: our guide to summer's best television

As we hit the midway point of the year there's a fresh batch of TV shows to see us through to the end of summer. January saw New York-based comedies aplenty (Girls, Broad City), and the last hurrah for some well-loved shows (Looking), as well as seeing the birth of surprise ratings monsters (Empire). June and July are equally diverse with reboots of big-screen classics (MTV's Scream), sketch comedy absurdity (Key & Peele), gratuitous psychopathic violence (Hannibal), returning heroes (Orange is the new Black, True Detective) and a show about a talking horse (BoJack Horseman). To say there's something for everyone might be a bit of a stretch, but we've picked 20 of the most interesting, intriguing and – at times – weird shows out there.
