Clever mum's 7c hack to stop black mould from forming around windows

A mum has revealed a clever and cheap hack for removing black mould from windows during the winter.

Black mould can grow on walls due to the condensation on windows resulting from the temperature difference inside and outside a house. The resulting moisture can lead to the creation of mould spores.

One savvy mum discovered a 7c trick to get rid of black mould. A frustrated parent person took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page where they said: "I have just discovered black mould on my window seals in the bedroom.

"I try to ventilate the room as often as I can but it just makes the room too cold and I have a baby. Does anyone have any good tips to try and remove mould as well as prevent it from coming back, I’ve tried various different hacks now."

Sharing advice in the comments, Marie Richardson replied: "Try putting some bowls of salt on the windowsill, it will help with the moisture and is pretty cheap too." Wendy Taylor added: “My children’s bedrooms suffer with this problem too and I always get so worried about their sinuses.

"I agree, the salt trick works a treat but don’t leave it out if you have pets or children who may eat it. You will also need to tackle the mould itself, try Astonish Mould & Mildew."

Salt is one of the most common items found in all households and you can buy it for as little as 49c for 750g in Aldi. You can use 100g to get rid of moisture which means this trick costs just 7c.

The salt works by removing excess moisture in the air, therefore reducing the amount of condensation on the window and getting rid of and preventing black mould from growing, the Express reports.
