As daylight becomes more of a commodity moving into the winter months, everyone has to find their own ways of braving the darkness, and this dog is no exception.
The practical pup has mastered the use of a torch when he has to go for a wee in the garden, as shown in this hilarious TikTok clip.
Jake, who is a Labrador/Huntaway cross from New Zealand, is given the bright torch by his owner and holds it in his mouth to light his way.
The video, which was uploaded by TikTok user @jakeyboo20, was a huge hit on the app, with over 5.6 million views and over 586,000 likes.
At the start of the clip, we see Jake’s owner hand him the torch before he heads outside to spend a penny.
The clever boy uses the bright beam of the torch to guide him through the tricky terrain before stopping to relieve himself.
Viewers were clearly impressed by Jake’s skills, with one commenting: “Man that dog has a bright future!”
Another equally astounded commenter wrote: “I need this for my dog, he is afraid of the dark.”
A third added: “My black lab is scared too, this is adorable.”
Black Labradors are known for their loving nature.
In a competition hosted by TeamDogs, they were voted second in the search to find the UK's favourite dog breed.
They narrowly missed out on the top spot to Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
