Clevedon couple 'in horrendous shock' after car crashed through house

A couple were left in "horrendous shock" after a car smashed into the front of their house.

Neighbours described hearing a 'massive bang' this afternoon (December 9) in Deer Mead, Clevedon.

The male driver of the car was taken to hospital after the collision at 4:05pm. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Luckily, no-one was inside the house when the crash happened.

Photographs from the scene show a huge hole in the front of the building, surrounded by rumble.

Owners Laurie and Tina Hobbs had been home all day looking after their granddaughter, and only left an hour before the accident.

Mr Hobbs said: "We’d been at home all day looking after my granddaughter and had only left an hour and a half earlier to take her home.

"We were at my son's house when a neighbour messaged us. It’s a horrendous shock.”

Three fire crews were still in attendance at 7pm and were assessing the building's structural damage.
