A nursery school has had to close for a fortnight after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.
Clervaux Nursery School, on Clervaux Terrace, in Jarrow, South Tyneside, has become the latest educational setting to be affected by coronavirus.
Announcing the news on its website and social media page, the nursery said a deep clean of the site had been carried out and they plan to reopen on October 12.
A message on Facebook said: "As you are aware we have had a member of staff who has tested positive for Covid-19.
"Following advice from public health, any child who attended the nursery Thursday or Friday last week will need to isolate until Saturday 10th October.
"The nursery will be closed until Monday 12th October as most staff will also have to isolate. Thank you for your continued support. Take care and stay safe everyone."
A further note to parents on its website says they will be providing activities for youngsters to carry out at home.
It added: "The nursery has had a deep clean and ready and waiting for us to return.
"We will be providing activities for you to try at home. Links will be sent through texts and will also appear on Facebook. Lookout for our daily stories read by members of staff."
A large number of schools across the North East, including nurseries, primaries, secondary schools and colleges, have been affected by coronavirus over the past few weeks.
Scores of youngsters in particular year groups or bubbles have been asked to isolate and continue their learning at home, while some schools closed fully or partially due the impact of infection.
