A teenanger was arrested at Gatwick Airport on suspicion of the murder of a sixteen-year-old boy after a double stabbing in Clerkenwell.

Jamaly Samba Baibu was walking with a friend when he was attacked by a group of boys and stabbed repeatedly in Seward Street at 10.33pm on December 22. He later died of his injuries.

The friend suffered non-life threatening injuries.

On Thursday evening, police arrested a second boy, aged sixteen, in connection with Jamaly’s fatal stabbing. The arrest was made as the boy entered the country at Gatwick Airport.

He is currently in custody at a south London police station.

Another boy, also aged sixteen, was earlier arrested Tuesday on suspicion of murder and has since been bailed to a date in late January pending further enquiries.

Family this week paid a moving tribute to “loved and cared for” Jamaly on a crowdfunding page looking to raise £8,000 towards funeral costs.

Jamaly’s sister, Joyce, said: “It is a stressful time for the family and as you can imagine, totally unexpected.”

“Jamaly was loved and cared for by many. Everyone he encountered, has spoken of his caring nature and the smile he would bring - that was my Jamaly.

“I miss my little brother dearly and just want to do this one last thing for him. Fly high little brother, fly high.”

The investigation is led by homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.
