Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence throws for 391 yards and 5 touchdowns… in the first half

It took Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence just half a game against Georgia Tech on Saturday to deliver his best statistical performance of the season.

Lawrence destroyed the Yellow Jackets’ defense at home in the first half, passing for 391 yards and five touchdowns, all season highs, in 10 first-half possessions. Lawrence completed 22 of his 27 attempts through the air – though one first half interception means that Russell Wilson’s ACC record for consecutive attempts without a pick is now safe.

Perhaps most impressively, Lawrence completed a pass to 10 different Clemson receivers. Amari Rodgers led all receivers with six-first half receptions for 161 yards and two touchdowns.

Clemson held a 52-7 lead on Georgia Tech at halftime, but Lawrence remained in the game to start the second half. During the Tigers’ first offensive drive of the second half, Lawrence surpassed 400 passing yards for the game, which broke his previous career high of 395 set against Syracuse last season.
