Clemson RB Travis Etienne returning for 2020 season

In one of the more surprising announcements to come out of the underclassmen declaration process, Clemson running back Travis Etienne has announced that he will forgo the 2020 NFL draft and return to school for his senior year.

Etienne has been one of the best backs in the nation for the past two years, having rushed for 3,272 yards and a whopping 43 touchdowns on the ground over the past two seasons, rushing for a 7.9 yards-per-carry average in the process. Coming off of a loss in the national championship to LSU, he will look to help lead Clemson to their second championship win in three years.

This move serves as a big blow to the 2020 running back class, one that has already seen a few notable names decide to return to school. Etienne joins the likes of Alabama’s Najee’ Harris, Oklahoma State’s Chuba Hubbard and Mississippi State’s Kylin Hill as underclass running backs who have decided to forgo this year’s draft.
